I completed my bachelors degree in microbiology and molecular genetics from University of the Punjab, Lahore. I found molecular biosciences very interesting and therefore decided to pursue an M.Phil leading to PhD degree in the same area from School of Biological Sciences, PU, Lahore. My PhD research work was based on recombinant production of several native and multi-epitope chimeric antigens of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and their utilization in development of immunoassay for diagnosis of TB.
After completion of my PhD, I also undertook a short research training fellowship at Weill-Cornell Medical College in Qatar, to study mutations in hereditary spastic paraplegia patients.
Shortly afterwards, I joined the Institute of molecular biology and biotechnology at the University of Lahore, as an Assistant Professor in October 2016, and since then, have taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am also leading a small research group working on analysis of mutations in drug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
