Biography
Dr. Mehtab Afzal, holds a Ph.D. in Computer Applied Technology, earned
from the School of Information Science and Technology at Southwest Jiaotong
University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China in 2016. During his doctoral journey, he
was under the expert guidance of Prof. Xiao Wu, where his research primarily
revolved around harnessing semantic technologies for web-based applications.
Currently, Dr. Mehtab serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the Computer
Science & IT Department at The University of Lahore, Pakistan. Dr. Mehtab's
scholarly endeavors are showcased through his numerous publications in
esteemed international journals and conferences, including Knowledge-based
Systems (Elsevier), Neurocomputing (Elsevier), International Journal of
Communication Systems (Wiley), and the International Conference on Multiple
Classifiers Systems (Springer), to name a few.
Furthermore, Dr. Mehtab's dedication to knowledge
dissemination is exemplified by his authorship of couple of books, published in
collaboration with Lambert Academic Publishing in Germany. Beyond his role as
an author, Dr. Mehtab actively engages in scholarly peer-review, contributing
his expertise as a Reviewer for esteemed journals and conferences such as
Multimedia Systems (Springer), Computers and Electrical Engineering (Elsevier),
and Knowledge-based Systems (Elsevier). Highlighting his leadership in the
academic community, Dr. Mehtab served as the General Chair for the 4th International
Conference on Advancements in Computational Sciences (ICACS’23), a testament to
his commitment to advancing the frontiers of computational science. Dr. Mehtab
Afzal's research interests encompass a wide spectrum, including Computer
Vision, Multimedia Information Retrieval, and the ever-evolving realm of Big
Data.
