Biography:


Dr. Zaman Khan got his PhD Degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from University of the Punjab. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in University Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology (UIMLT), University of Lahore. He has a vast experience of teaching and research at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate levels. He has been a member of Microbe-Metal interaction Research Group, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. There, he has explored different resistance mechanisms in bacteria and yeasts against environmental perturbations at genetic, proteomic and physiological levels. He has also been involved in investigating the mechanism of metal therapy against cancer to suppress cell division process in rapidly dividing cells by using yeast as a model organism. Now he has a research group on antibiotic resistance which is focused to investigate the mechanisms of action and resistance to antibiotics at molecular level as well as exploring how drug-resistance affects the pathological behavior of bacteria. He has presented his research work at various national and international conferences/seminars as well as published them in innumerable leading impact factor journals including gold category journals such as Chemosphere and Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology (AMB). He has active collaborations with various national and international institutes/research centers including Government College University Faisalabad, University of the Punjab and University Medical Center Goettingen (UMG), Georg-August University, Germany. He is also an active reviewer of various leading journals such as Chemosphere and Journal of Advancements in Life sciences.
