Biography:


Dr. Khalid Farooq Akbar is a professor in the Department of Botany where he has been since March 2016. From December 2017, he is also serving as Pro-Rector UOL Sargodha campus. He is an alumnus of Punjab University and Quaid-i-Azam University from Pakistan whereas he has Ph.D from the University of Bradford, Bradford, UK.

Dr. Khalid is a botanist with a deep interest in plant ecology and with rich experience in ecology of infrastructure projects like roads, railways and motorways. Some of his research projects have been focused on greenery in urban areas, climate change, conservation of biodiversity, agro-ecology and ecosystem services.

Dr. Khalid is member of various national and international organizations such as International Ecological Society (INTECOL), Infra-Eco network Europe (IENE), Botanic Gardens Network International and Pakistan Botanical Society. His interests include free-lance writing, travelling, philately and literature.
