Dr. Amina Elahi

Dr. Amina Elahi has earned her PhD degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of the Punjab, in March 2019. Currently, she is working as an Assistant Professor in the University Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology (UIMLT), University of Lahore. She has a vast experience of teaching and research at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate levels. She has been actively involved in conducting researches for more than eight years in the discipline of Environmental Microbiology. She has worked under Microbe-Metal interaction Research Group, where she focused on the utilization of microorganisms for Biofuel Production, Azo Dyes Degradation, and Bioremediation of Heavy Metal contaminated sites. In her PhD, she has explored various resistance mechanisms exhibited by the bacterial yeast and algal strains against environmental perturbations at physiological, genetic, and proteomic levels. She also has an experience of working in an international research institute, Adaptations et Interactions Microbiennes dans l'Environnement, GMGM - Université de Strasbourg, France, for six months.
She has presented her research findings at various national and international conferences and seminars. Besides, she has also published her research work in leading impact factor journals. She is the active member of various societies such as National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB).
