Biography

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Showkat Rahim Chowdhury completed his Ph.D. in May 1997 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in the Applied Nonlinear Functional Analysis and in Multi-Valued Fixed Point Theorems with applications to generalized variational and quasi-variational inequalities and game theory in mathematical economics. He has a vast experience of teaching and research at university levels for about 38 years in various countries including Saudi Arabia, Australia, Bulgaria, South Korea, Canada, Bangladesh and Pakistan. His field of interest and specialization is versatile in nature. It covers many areas of Mathematical  Engineering.

He is currently member of the Editorial Boards of some  reputed international journals of Mathematical sciences. He has published extensively research papers in leading world class scientific journals

He organized many International Conferences and Workshops as Principal Organizers and as Chairperson of these International conferences and workshops. In addition,  Prof. Dr. Chowdhury attended and/or presented research papers in about 33 international and/or national conferences and workshops in many number of countries including, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Greece, India, Turkey, South Korea and United States of America (USA).

He has successfully completed postdoctoral Fellowships in Australia and also completed three Research Projects there and one research project in Canada..

He was awarded an A Category Award at LUMS in 2008 for publishing the book Topological Methods for Set-Valued Non-linear Analysis by World Scientific Publisher. Moreover, he wrote a chapter of  the book Set Valued Mappings with Applications in Nonlinear Analysis published by Taylor & Francis: London

He was shortlisted and interviewed twice for a Vice Chancellor position  in the year 2019: first time for a Vice Chancellor position of any one of the five (5) universities in Punjab,  Pakistan, and second time for the Vice Chancellor position of  Govt. College University, Lahore and the University of Education, Lahore, Pakistan

Prof. Dr. Chowdhury has served the University of Management and Technology (UMT) as the Founding Director of the Centre for Mathematics and Its Applications (CMAP) and as the Associate Dean of the School of Science at UMT during the years 2015-2018. 

Professor Chowdhury has been serving as the reviewer of the American Mathematical Reviews since the last 23 years and also has been serving as the reviewer of many reputed International Journals. Prof. Dr. Shaukat Rahim Chowdhury visited and lived and worked in many number of countries including, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, Oman, United Arab Emirates. Malaysia, Singapore, France, Greece, Bulgaria, South Korea, Canada, Australia and United States of America (USA).

Professor Dr. Chowdhury has been serving the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Lahore, Lahore campus,  as full Professor since January, 2019.
