Dr.Muhammad Usman Butt
DME - Academic Staff
An expert in Experimental Thermofluids, I completed my PhD from the Technical University of Cottbus, Germany. My doctoral work focused on passive flow control with the help of hexagonal structures. After my PhD i worked shortly for Siemens as a Research Engineer. My research interests are focused on passive flow control methods to influence the most practical Aerodynamic quantities such as drag, Vortex shedding frequencies and boundary layer. Furthermore, i have been involved in developing and optimizing measurement techniques such as, drag measuring balances, oil film interferometry, smoke flow visualization, and Temperature measuring probes.
Recently i have developed a small scale Gas turbine running at an rpm of above 80,000 and a pressure ratio of 1.7.
