I was born in Multan and got primary and secondary education from here. I graduated from Emersen College Multan in 1963 securing first position in the Punjab University Lahore. I completed BSc civil engineering from The West Pakistan University of Engineering and technology Lahore in 1967. I secured master's degree in civil engineering from the same university in 1974.
with research work on " Evolution of new system of pre stressing in Pakistan".
After graduation graduation in 1967, I joined Noon Qayoom and Company as assistant structural engineer on Lahore Sahiwal National Highway project.After selection through The West Pakistan Public Service Commission, I joined The Technical Education Department in 1969 as senior instructor.
In 1971 I joined Pakistan Railways as Assistant Engineer. From 1974 to 1985 I worked with ETCO Consulting Engineers Ryadh Saudi Arabia (on deportation) as Senior Bridge Engineer and designed more than 250 RC and Pre-stressed bridges including 7 Interchanges.
I conducted hydrological studies of bridges , protection works and more than 3000 culverts in the designed road. I was responsible for trouble shooting of construction problems of 200 bridges which were completed during my tenure.
In 1986 I joined back Pakistan Railways as Executive Engineer on the project of Strength Evaluation, Repair, Rehabilitation and Strengthening of 100 years old bridges (about 1000) on Lahore-Karachi section.
In 1990 I got training in Railway Management under technical cooperation program of British Council UK.
From 1990 to 1995 I served as Chief Engineer/design in Pakistan Railway Advisory and Consultancy Services (PRACS). From 1996 to 2001 I served as Joint Director/Civil Engineering, Pakistan Railway research and development centre Walton Lahore.
I worked as Chief Engineer/Design till my retirement in January 2003.
From 1990 to 2006 I have been serving as External Examiner of UET Lahore For under graduate and post graduate subjects, apart from above I have evaluated 126 undergraduate projects and 7 MSc Thesis in this duration.
I was re-engage as Chief Design Consultant by The Pakistan Railways for period of two years.
From 2005 to 2009 I served as Assistant Professor University College of Engineering and Technology BZU Mulatn.
From 2009 to 2011 I was again appointed as Consultant Design in the design section of Pakistan Railways.
I joined The University of Lahore in December 2012 as Assistant Professor/Civil Engineering and serving till today
I had membership of ASCE , ACI, and PCI of USA from 1976 to 2002
