Biography:

Dr. Zahid Usman did his Ph.D. in July 2013 in materials physics & chemistry from Beijing Institute of technology, China, under fully funded Chinese Govt Scholarship. His research work during PhD studies was specifically focussed on First-principles Studies of the structural, electronic, elastic constant, optical and phonon properties of GaN and InN. He has published more than 38 papers in international journals published under the umbrella of Americam Physical Society, American Chemical Society, Elsvier, Springer etc. He was selected for best student award in 2012. Later on, he won one of the most prestigeous Humboldt Postdoctorl fellowship awarded by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2015 for two years, where he joined Institute of Experimental Physics, Otto-von-Universitat (OVGU) Magdeburg, Germany. His area of expertise in OVGU was spectroscopic investigation of Nitride semiconductors. Dr. Zahid Usman did M.Phil in 2008 from Gomal University. His field of interest in M.Phil was the computer modeling and simulation of plasma dynamics in plasma focus device. He was the Gold medalist of M.Phil Physics session 2004-2006. His area of research include the Photocatalysis of InGaN for hydrogen production and AlGaN/GaN HEMT transistors. He is actively involved in computational modeling of materials using density functional theory. Dr. Zahid Usman is member of Humboldt association, German Physical Society and Marie Curie German Chapter. Recently, he was organiser and Stage secretary for the conference on Need based solar application at the University of Lahore.
